Oakshott Kaleidoscope Quilt

I have recently had the pleasure of working together with my sister Rita from Red Pepper Quilts on a commission project for a raffle quilt.  Rita chose the fabrics, layout and colours and pieced the quilt - I absolutely love her eye for colour - she chose a wonderful selection of Oakshott fabrics and I believe she has done an incredible job with this quilt.  I was then given free reign to quilt as desired.

The quilt was a delight to quilt - Rita's accuracy with her piecing is just incredible.  I decided to quilt with a combination of feathers, loops and continuous curves.

Hopefully this quilt will be a great success as a fundraiser.  I have loved working on this quilt together with Rita.  More information about the making of the quilt and further images are available at Red Pepper Quilts.

Garden Fence Quilt

I have recently quilted Penny's very pretty Garden Fence Quilt.  The quilt has been made using the instructions on Hyacinth Quilt Designs which shows a beautiful version in golds, greys, yellows and white.  Penny's quilt has been made using an array of pretty pinks, greens, white and the occasional splash of orange.

Penny's quilt has been quilted with one of my favourite all-over designs called Daisies Galore.

I love the way the quilted daisies stand out on the plain fabrics and tie in with the many floral fabrics in the quilt - a perfect match really!



Penny's quilt is being raffled to raise funds for her children's school - good luck Penny - the quilt is bound to  do really well.  I am sure the eventual winner will be thrilled to win such a gorgeous quilt. 

Quilts in the Barn Exhibition 2010

Just a reminder that the 2010 Quilts in the Barn Exhibition is nearly here...

If you have been to Quilts in the Barn before, you will know that Linda puts on a fabulous event with beautiful quilts, in a glorious setting. All monies raised are for breast cancer research. If you haven't been before, now is your chance! There will be morning & afternoon tea available, Corliss from Threadbear will have a stall and Di Ford will have some of her patterns for sale.  Check out the amazing Raffle Quilt made by the Secret Sewing Sisterhood.  Apparently there will be about 70 quilts on display - certainly worth a trip!

Pink Fairy Quilt for Breastcancer Awareness

To raise awareness for Breastcancer, October, 2009 is Breastcancer Awareness Month.  My customer and friend Penny has made a gorgeous Pink Fairy Quilt which I have just finished quilting.  The quilt has been made as a fundraiser for this great cause and will be raffled or auctioned next month at the Annual Morris Hall (MGGS) Touch of Pink Breakfast.

The quilt features 12 different fairies set with pink and white sashing and surrounded by pink and white squares.  The quilt was made from a kit and based on a pattern purchased from The Patchwork Collection in Healesville.

The quilt has been quilted with an all-over design called Angel Wings to tie in with the Fairy theme.

I would like to wish Penny good luck with the fundraiser - I hope the quilt is a great success in raising money for Breastcancer awareness and that the quilt goes to a little girl who will treasure it for a long time to come.
